Constantin Brancusi, self-portrait, 1924.
Our introduction to the art of Constantin Brancusi (pronounced "Brun-coosh") began simply enough. I handed Gnome, Prophet, and Little B. a black and white outline of Brancusi's "Bird In Space" and asked them to use their imaginations to reveal the bird in space with a little help from colored pencils.
To use the coloring page, enjoy the free download (which includes a brief activity plan) at Teachers Pay Teachers. We followed up our Brancusi exploration with a brief study of the actual marble scuplture itself and a discussion of Brancusi's life and career.
